Welcome to Watermark Counselling
You might recognise that you are repeating the same pattern of behaviour, or something which used to be manageable has become too big to handle alone. You could be worried about one of your children, or be constantly arguing with your partner. You might be feeling sad, lonely, anxious or depressed.
A counsellor can help you to explore your thoughts and feelings in order to make sense of them, or aspects of your life which might seem troubling or unsatisfactory. It is important to know that what may seem trivial to one person could be significant to another - people are all different, and we work with each person according to their individual needs. If your issues are more to do with how you cope with situations it may be that a more therapeutic approach would suit you better. This is often more long-term, and will help you to look at your earlier life to understand yourself and enable you to make the changes you wish for.
We provide counselling for individual adults, couples, children and adolescents. We have been practising in Howick, Auckland since 1998.
If you are reading this page, it is likely that you have reached a place in your life where you have tried everything you can think of to resolve your issue, and are considering enlisting the help of someone else.
Counselling sessions are 50-60 minutes, generally weekly. Every issue is different, and so it is difficult to predict the number of sessions you will require. This is something that will be discussed at your first appointment, and reviewed as you progress.
Counselling is confidential.
We appreciate that it can be quite hard to make that first contact with a counsellor, and will do our best to put you at ease. It is important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor, so we are happy to answer any questions you may have about us, or how we work.
